| Hi
- I'm Thomas Ross Holme... My friends call me "RomTom"...
This photo dates
back to 1990. I am much scragglier these days. I was struck by lightning back in 1969 in a
cornfield in Iowa. There's been quite a few sparks since then... |

I met my wife in 1975 on Wreck Beach in Vancouver,
B.C., Canada. She was a pert little French Canadienne with a thick French accent who
hardly spoke any English... We have been together ever since.
I call her
Ellie, but some folks call her "Owl"... |
Most people in
the Northwest know us for our Bicycle Bus... Or for my Photography... Or my Writing.
In 2008 doctors
told me I had cancer. Painful radiation treatments put an end to that. I'm
cancer-free now. But I spend most of my hours in bed, where I work on my laptop while I
continue healing. I have over thirty websites full of art, writings, memories... Please
scroll down to visit them. Nice meeting you... |

You have
arrived at the doorway which will lead you into my websites.
Do you like this
background photograph? It was taken back in April of 2009, in a hospital room where I was
recovering from a head-on collision with an Suv while I was driving my 1200cc Yamaha
motorcycle. Apparently a woman didn't see me in the center safety lane and just suddenly
switched lanes and plowed into me. Resulting in the first broken bones I have ever had in
my 62 years of life. The parrot on my head is Neumann. He was a loudmouthed rascal but I
loved him. Sadly, Newman has since died. We have other birds these days, primarily, two
cockatoos: Egor and Ouis-Ouis. They are members of our family, living in the bedroom with
us.
The past few years
have been difficult time for us medically speaking. I was diagnosed with cancer in
December of 2007. There was a lump on my neck, right on top of a vital nerve, which
pressed on it and made me loose sensation in the left side of my body, daily. So they had
to start me on radiation and chemo therapy right away. I finished that painful treatment
in April of 2008. The tumor was gone. Doctors said if the tumor stayed gone for one entire
year it probably would stay gone forever. But then it was my wife Ellie's turn. We
suddenly had to admit her into Sacred Heart hospital. She had blood sugar levels over a
thousand. They kept her in there until they finally got a handle on it, and taught me how
to give her shots of insulin. They let her out after a week but we almost had noplace to
go. Our Apollo RV had blown its engine on the freeway. I used my credit card to buy a
thousand dollar clunk RV and moved us into a cheap trailer park where we could both do
some healing. My cancer was kaput - But then in April of 2009 I had the head on collision
with an SUV while riding my motorcycle and spent the next month in the hospital. So all in
all it seemed to me the devil was trying to make me cry uncle. I pray to the Great
God of Love to help us get through these terrible days.
Update. December
2010. We are getting on better. No major health issues. My broken hip has healed. My
cancer is gone. Even my diabetes was cured by my loss of weight from the cancer therapy.
Praise God. We are poor as ever. We have never before been so deeply in debt. From paying
for things we needed with my credit card while I was healing. It will be years before I
pay that mess off.
I owe a huge debt
of thanks to my mother who helped us get another Apollo motorhome to live in. It's old but
at least we have something to live in. Life is not easy. But at least we are alive. Praise
God.
